YOUTUBE SURVIVOR SERIES #40: MING RING, DO YR THING!

I haven’t seen the new Flash Gordon TV show, (on account of its too new and we don't get Sci-Fi channel out here, and even if we did, it'd be programming from a couple of years ago). But it looks sorta like Battlestar Galactica via The O.C., the latter half of which is unappealing.

I agree with io9: if you want Flash, it’s hard to beat the campy 1980 version. You’ve got cheesy acting, goofy dialogue, a soundtrack done entirely by Queen, and – best of all – you’ve got Max von Sydow as Ming and his sex ring.

Oh he had one, all right. Witness this clip from io9 of Ming using his ring to give Dale Arden the pleasure in front of everyone.

ITEM: Someone’s been going round East London defacing adverts by decapitating the models – and posting the results on Flickr.

Naturally, some people will find this more amusing than others. Some are taking it as misogynist, although Wired’s Jenna Wortham sees it more as another case of ad hacking. Which is more likely – honestly, it looks like the analog equivalent of Photoshopping memes to me. And for all anyone knows, The Decapitator is a woman. And possibly a Tim Burton fan.

We’ll probably find out soon enough. Bet the charges will be more than just vandalism, though.
