HEAVY WEATHER 2008: NEOGURI!

Ooooh, bless. It’s the first Typhoon No. 1 Signal of the year. Yr typhoon for this weekend is: Neoguri.



Which sucks if yr in Hainan Island. It’ll probably just mean some extra rain and wind for us.

That said, what is a typhoon but extra rain and wind? Who knows what will happen? I’m expecting the 2008 typhoon season to be fortified with extra Weird, if for no other reason that the weather so far this year has been wonky – we only just started pushing 28ºC this week, which we should have been doing well over a month ago. “Climate change is a liberal myth” my lily ASS.

<nostalgia>I have fond memories of the Burger Chef – that was back in the day when “drive-in” meant parking the car next to yr own personal squawk box and high school chix on rollerskates would bring you the food on a tray that mounted on the window. You know, back when unhealthy fast food was done PROPERLY.</nostalgia>

Bob’s Big Boy was another burger institution in the neighborhood (though it was called Shoney’s in our neck of the woods). I discovered their Big Boy double burger before I discovered Big Macs, but the Big Prize was the Hot Fudge Cake



That was to dessert what Porsches were to automobiles. There is truly no substitute. And both were just as likely to kill you if you didn’t know what you were doing.

If yr wondering, yes, this IS what us old-timers talk about all day. Humor yr elders when they babble about The Golden Age, for we are old and cranky and wouldn’t give two cents for yr fancy newfangled so-called “health food” crap.
