ITEM [via Telecom TV]: The town of Reeves, LA has been allowed to change its telephone prefix to 749.

The old prefix?

666

Which everyone objected to because it was, of course, EVIL.

The interesting question for me is: why now? Reeves has had that prefix for 40 years, and hasn’t suffered a disproportionate level of Satanic activity that I’m aware of.

I’m sure the apparent rising wave of fear and Christian fundamentalism sweeping the nation since 9/11 is a complete coincidence. They probably just got tired of all the jokes or something. Yes. That must be it.

i can't believe they give up the coolest phone prefix you can get. if we have this in Hong Kong, the local council will put it up on ebay, you know... like 888 car-plate.
