Just over the halfway mark in this year’s NNWM event. Here’s how that’s going:

Like that.
The good news is that I’ll probably hit 50,000 words, no problem.
The bad news is I’ll probably be only a third of the way finished with the actual story. I’m 5,000 words over the halfway mark and the story is just barely getting into gear. Concise, I am not.
But you knew that.
Still, 30k words in ten days is encouraging, considering it's all being done in what spare time I have.
Right. Back to work.
Just keep typing,
This is dF

on 2008-11-16 02:55 pm (UTC)My novel won't be anywhere near done at the 50,000 mark either. But most novels aren't done with that few words. I'm looking at 90 to 100K for my finished product.
I had grand and glorious ideas of writing all of it this month BEFORE the wrists went on strike. I'm not so sure my wrists can accomodate 6-10K words in a day. We'll see. I'd really like to hit 40K today. Plus, I still haven't found that fun and compelling subplot to off set the excitement and psychological tension of the main plot. It's not just my wrists that need a break writing that. Like readers, I need breaks from that dramatic tension.
*grins*
Happy writing~

on 2008-11-16 05:00 pm (UTC)I don't know if I could stand 10K words a day. But I churn out about 3,000 at a time as part of my job, so it seems knocking out that much a day is normal for me now.
Meanwhile, I've got three threads running parallel that'll merge probably around 70K at this rate, then it's revelations and then the third act. With lots of explosions and giant monsters and Highlander references and all that! And about 40,000 Martian bras, of course. I'm having fun with this one. Can you tell? :)
See you at 50K.

on 2008-11-17 04:42 pm (UTC)Oh, the pressure to keep being the proverbial carrot. *grins*
I have a couple of people who have been motivating me too. I took on a NaNo newbie as a mentee and she flabbergasted me on Saturday and wrote 20,000 words in one day and has already exceeded 50K. Wow! I won't be able to do anything that spectacular, but it was fun to watch.
I think your novel will be even more fun because you are having fun writing it. I'd love to read it when you're done.
Well, it's back to writing. I have another 800 words to write before I have to leave for the office. ;)
