By now you may have heard the assertion by Fox News’ Steve Doocy that Sarah Palin does SO have foreign policy qualifications because she runs a state that’s right next to Russia.

I thought it was just another case of Fox News people showing off their godawful improv skills. Turns out that’s actually a GOP talking point. Or if it wasn’t, it is now – Cindy McCain just said the same thing on ABC’s This Week With George Stephanopoulos:

Actually, I'm starting to wonder if I have enough foreign policy experience to be President. After all, I'm from Chicago, which is a very diverse city. I went to the most diverse college in the midwest. I've traveled to the Bahamas, Mexico and Canada, and I have relatives in Canada, Greece, South Africa and England. Oh! Plus, I'm living in Japan right now. Surely that makes me more than qualified to be the leader of the free world.
